Hallway with a Nautical Feel

The bannister newel post makes this entrance hall really special.

The newel post was fitted with a light that turns it into an indoor lighthouse. See many more photos of this lovely family home here.

Nice! Just too many stripes.

I love everything about this hall......EXCEPT those horrible can lights in the hall way.

They destroy the ceiling...cast ugly light downward.....and are so inappapropriate in a lovely traditional house! YUCK!!!
See Velvet and Linen! the blog!

They use them not at all!!

Overall, a lovely home, but I'd opt not to have the stripes either! Thank you for sharing this.

Lisa Smith and Catherine -- I agree about the stripes. Too busy. I like paint best.

Penelope Bianchi -- Most of my friends who have them never use them. The high hats came with the house. I am not a fan of all the fancy crystal chandeliers that are everywhere now, even in the bathroom. I prefer a light switch that controls a lamp or two when you enter a dark room.

My favorite, the wicker chairs on the patio. I'm in the midst of trying to buy some for our new patio so that is what is catching my eye. I have can lights in my basement and kitchen, they help me to see. They aren't my favorite but sometimes they are the best option.
